College Football Playoff

The College Football Playoffs will include the top four teams selected by a committee that has been hand picked by the executive board of the FBS. The first annual 4 teams are
1.Alabama
2.Oregon
3.Florida State
4.Ohio State
These teams all won on Saturday, and all but one team blew past their opponents. Alabama beat 16th ranked Missouri 42-16. Oregon beat 7th ranked Arizona 51-13. Ohio State beat 13th ranked Wisconsin 59-0. FSU barely beat 11th ranked Georgia Tech 37-35. TCU was ranked 3rd last college football playoff ranking update, but they fell to number six today. While TCU definitively beat Iowa State yesterday, it wasn't enough to stay in the top 4. The committee has some tough decisions to make yesterday, but I agree with them. Ohio State deserves to be in the College Football Playoffs. Yesterday, their third string started and absolutely dominated. Cardale Jones threw for 257 yards, completing 12 out of 17 passes.

MLB All Stars

Recently, the best of the best Major League Baseball Players traveled to Japan to play against Japan's national baseball team. The Japanese National team won the first game of the series 4-2. They also won the second game 8-4. While Justin Morneau, got the All Stars started in the bottom of the second it was still not enough. On Friday, the Japanese National Team combined a total of 4 pitchers to complete a no-hitter. Norimoto, who was the starting pitcher, threw 5 perfect innings with a whopping six strikeouts to earn the credit for the win. He later was interviewed and said "I believe that was the best outing of my career". Yuki Nishi pitched two hitless innings with four strikeouts, and Yuji Nishino pitched a perfect inning in the ninth, retiring the side. In game 4, Chris Capuano will take the mound for the All-Stars. Shintaro Fujinami will get the start for Japan.

The Fall Classic

On Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants defeated the Kansas City Royals to win the World Series. The Giants have now won the World Series now three out of the last five  years. The last team to do this was the 1996-2000 New York Yankees. Bruce Bochy, the manager of the Giants has now won three World Series. He is the 10th manager is MLB history to have achieved this. This year, the Giants were efficient on both sides of the game . Madison Bumgardner, a Giants starting pitcher threw a complete game three days before game seven. He came in Game 7 and threw five shutout innings, with no runs out hits allowed. He had a .25 ERA with one run allowed all series. He joins Randy Johnson as the only other pitcher in MLB history to have three wins in one World Series. Madison Bumgardner was named this year's World Series MVP. The Giants have worked hard this year for a right to play in the World Series, and have capitalized on opportunities that have presented themself in this series and throughout the season.

Peyton Manning

Tonight, Peyton Manning will attempt the NFL all-time record of most touchdowns. Brett Farve currently holds the current record at 508 career touchdowns. Peyton need only two more touchdowns to tie Farve's record and three to break it. He is one of two players to have beaten all 32 NFL teams at least once (the other is Brett Farve). Peyton has played in the NFL for 17 seasons. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 1998. He played there for 14 seasons then signed with the Denver Broncos in 2012. In my opinion he is a hall of fame player, deserves this record. He will finish career as one of the best players of all time. He is a great decision maker and leader on the field. In 2012 he brought a somewhat tired and struggling Denver Broncos back to life, and even brought them to Super Bowl 49 last year. Peyton will go down as one of the most accomplished players of all-time, and with good reason.

RE2PECT

Yesterday Derek Jeter finished off his legendary career at Fenway Park with a RBI single in a 9-5 win over the Red Six. That RBI single was his 3,564th hit of his career. With that he was sixth on the all time hits list.  He finished his career with a .310 batting average. He was a part of five Works Series winning teams. After the game Derek Jeter said "It felt like the time was right". Derek Jeter was arguably the best shortstop to ever play Major League Baseball. He will definitely be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was an outstanding hitter and made several famous plays at shortstop over his 20 year career.
